Koloocheh (also spelled kolocheh, kolosh or koloshi) is the filled cookie of Lahijan, a tea town on Iran's Caspian coast. Ours is the walnut one — the original.
Four cookies to a box, each one soft cardamom-scented dough sealed around a sweet ground-walnut filling and stamped with the traditional pattern before baking. Earthy and toasty rather than sugary, with a slight bitterness from the walnut that keeps it from being a dessert you get tired of. Made to be eaten with black tea, which is how it is eaten in Gilan.

What does the Persian writing on the box and cookies say?
It says لاهیجان — Lahijan, the town in northern Iran where koloocheh comes from. The word is written in Nastaliq, a traditional style of Persian calligraphy, on the front of the box and stamped into every cookie before baking.

Four. Each box is 7 oz (200 g), and each cookie weighs 50 g.
How long does koloocheh stay fresh?
Four months, with the expiry date printed on every box. Keep it in a cool, dry place and do not refrigerate — the cold hardens the dough and dulls the flavor. Once opened, reseal the wrap and finish within two to three weeks.
What allergens does it contain?
The label reads: contains wheat, egg and walnut. All of our flavors are baked on a single production line, so walnut, pistachio and coconut share equipment. There is no milk or dairy in any of them.
What are the ingredients?

Is koloocheh halal?
Egg is the only animal-derived ingredient in our koloocheh. Everything else is plant-based, and we use no gelatin, no meat, no animal fat and no dairy. Our cookies are not halal-certified, so we list every ingredient here for you to decide.

What if the box arrives damaged, or I don't like them?
Because koloocheh is a food product we cannot accept returns. If your order arrives damaged or you are unhappy for any reason, email sales@honeybirdsweets.com within one week of delivery and we will refund you. Nothing needs to be sent back.

Unfortunately, this is not the quality I was used to and expected from Honey Bird. The cookie crumbs into hundreds of pieces when unwrapped. Also, it tastes bland.
It has an amazing taste, is so fresh and delicious, and is even better than from Iran.
Their Koloocheh are always fresh, like it was just out of the oven. Extremely flavorful and delicious. They are truly reminiscent of the original in Lahijan. Shipment was immediate and we received it within two day after the order by UPS, professionally packed. We have recommended them to our local Iranian friends in Illinois.
